Java Snake Game

Overview

A personal Java project recreating the classic Snake game in a console-based format with movement, collision detection, and scoring.

Problem

The project needed to model continuous game state clearly while keeping the implementation understandable, modular, and easy to extend.

My Role

I built the project as the sole developer, including movement logic, collision checks, scoring behavior, and object-oriented structure.

Tools

  • Java
  • Object-oriented design
  • Git

Process

  1. Defined the game loop and state representation.
  2. Implemented movement, scoring, and collision detection.
  3. Organized the code into modular classes and tracked revisions with Git.

Challenges

The main challenge was keeping the movement and collision logic consistent as the snake changed length and direction.

Outcome

The finished project provided a working game and helped reinforce Java fundamentals, data structures, and clean control flow.

Reflection

This project made object-oriented design feel more concrete because each part of the game had a clear responsibility.
