HTML to ePub Converter
Overview
A personal tool concept for converting HTML content into ePub format while preserving structure and metadata.
Problem
Manual e-book formatting can become fragile when content has headings, nested sections, metadata, and reusable assets.
My Role
I designed the conversion flow, including input parsing, metadata handling, validation checks, and output packaging.
Tools
- Python
- HTML parsing
- ePub packaging
- Git
Process
- Defined the source HTML structure and required metadata.
- Mapped parsed content into a predictable ePub document structure.
- Added structured error handling so invalid input could fail with useful messages.
Challenges
The main challenge was keeping conversion rules strict enough to be reliable while still accepting realistic HTML input.
Outcome
The project clarified how parsers, validation, and file packaging work together in content automation workflows.
Reflection
This project made me more careful about input contracts because content tools fail badly when assumptions stay implicit.
